Lightning Photography

I know I haven’t exactly gotten the hang of basic photography but I cannot help but admire spectacular lightning photography images from the photography sites that I frequent. I used to love daytime photography, where exposure settings are easier to figure out. But it really is an inconvenience for me. Here’s one of my favorites from LightningPhotography.com -

Learning to take good product shots
admin | May 26, 2010 | 12:00 am | basic photography | No comments

One of the things that I would very much like to learn about is taking good product shots. Aside from wanting to venture into selling stuff online and showcasing some stuff that I would like to sell on online auction sites like eBay, I really hope to be able to give justice to the products I review and post online.

Snapshots vs. Portraits

Before digital imaging hcame, we were all freely snapping our shutters away. Snapshots make for a huge collection of a family’s memorabilia. Although everyone will agree with me when I say that a snapshot’s quality may not be as good as that of a thought of and well-composed portrait. Portraiture requires effort, snapshots don’t. That’s the bottomline.

As a photography hobbyist, I was only able to attend one class on photography and that was it. Basic Digital Photography was the class that I took almost a year ago. Since I cannot squeeze the time in to physically go to a class I am actually looking into signing up for an online one.

Learning Photography

People in general will agree with me when I say that babies and children are two of the most endearing and appealing subjects for photography. My Project 365 entries will prove just that. I am a parent and it is just inevitable that I take pictures of my son, who I’m obviously very fond of.

It is a delight to be able to capture in photos the emotions and innocence of a child. In all honesty I used to take pictures of my son without really taking into account the quality of the pictures that I take. That is what I hope to grow up from. Balance. It would be a total waste of owning a DSLR, albeit the entry level type, if I do not learn how to take better pictures.

A parent will gush over their children’s photos with delight regardless of the quality of their pictures. Never mind if pictures are totally out of focus. Although I can fully understand where they are coming from, I am hoping to take a step back and learn photography so I could finally gush over how I am finally able to do justice to the subject.

basic digital photography

As I hope to launch this photo blog, I am hereby uploading the sole photo that got a positive feedback from the very first photography class that I took in July 11, 2009. With the hope to get serious at photography, the plan is for me to review the lessons that I took in Sir Nicolay’s Basic Digital Photography class last year and finally take better pictures in 2010. I don’t hope to be rigid at this. I am going to take it slow, so please bear with me.

Allow me to just learn as I go. :-)
