Hoping to learn Portraiture and Food Photography
| January 18, 2011 | 12:34 pm | basic photography, food photography, portraiture | No comments

Portraiture and Food Photography are two of my main hope to learn this 2011. But before anything else, I am in dire need to hone my basic photography know hows. I am giving myself this month to run through the videos I took of my Basic Digital Photography class with Sir James Nicolay. It was in 2009 that I took the class and after almost 2 years, I still have not gone through the videos.

What’s the best software to post process photos?
| January 16, 2011 | 12:39 pm | basic photography | No comments

Even if I have had the Adobe Photoshop software in my computer for as long as I can remember, I never had the guts to actually maximize or even learn how to use it. I find it too tedious and too complicated for my taste. I am such an old school when it comes to this particular software. While others swear by it. Read more »

Learning to take product shots
| November 12, 2010 | 12:00 am | basic photography | No comments

Admittedly, I have been careless doing product shots for lack of time. Ideally, product shots should be taken with care and thought. Given that I am but a photography hobbyist and have no decent studio to take shots of the product in, a make shift light box will do. A macro lens, I have none. But I do have a nifty macro filter which can do its job with a little post processing.   Read more »

Learning Photography online
| October 21, 2010 | 12:00 am | basic photography | No comments

Although I have not been very eager to learn photography since I decided to slack several months ago, I cannot really say I dropped my love for it altogether. Without the luxury of time in my hands, I was able to have a look see on online tutorials when it comes to post processing via Adobe Lightroom. It was the easier software for me as opposed to the more popular Adobe Photoshop.

Lightning Photography
| May 29, 2010 | 12:00 am | basic photography | No comments

I know I haven’t exactly gotten the hang of basic photography but I cannot help but admire spectacular lightning photography images from the photography sites that I frequent. I used to love daytime photography, where exposure settings are easier to figure out. But it really is an inconvenience for me. Here’s one of my favorites from LightningPhotography.com -

Learning to take good product shots
| May 26, 2010 | 12:00 am | basic photography | No comments

One of the things that I would very much like to learn about is taking good product shots. Aside from wanting to venture into selling stuff online and showcasing some stuff that I would like to sell on online auction sites like eBay, I really hope to be able to give justice to the products I review and post online.

Snapshots vs. Portraits

Before digital imaging hcame, we were all freely snapping our shutters away. Snapshots make for a huge collection of a family’s memorabilia. Although everyone will agree with me when I say that a snapshot’s quality may not be as good as that of a thought of and well-composed portrait. Portraiture requires effort, snapshots don’t. That’s the bottomline.

Basic photography class
| March 16, 2010 | 12:29 am | basic photography | No comments

As a photography hobbyist, I was only able to attend one class on photography and that was it. Basic Digital Photography was the class that I took almost a year ago. Since I cannot squeeze the time in to physically go to a class I am actually looking into signing up for an online one.

Learning Photography
| January 21, 2010 | 12:17 pm | basic photography | 1 Comment

People in general will agree with me when I say that babies and children are two of the most endearing and appealing subjects for photography. My Project 365 entries will prove just that. I am a parent and it is just inevitable that I take pictures of my son, who I’m obviously very fond of.

It is a delight to be able to capture in photos the emotions and innocence of a child. In all honesty I used to take pictures of my son without really taking into account the quality of the pictures that I take. That is what I hope to grow up from. Balance. It would be a total waste of owning a DSLR, albeit the entry level type, if I do not learn how to take better pictures.

A parent will gush over their children’s photos with delight regardless of the quality of their pictures. Never mind if pictures are totally out of focus. Although I can fully understand where they are coming from, I am hoping to take a step back and learn photography so I could finally gush over how I am finally able to do justice to the subject.
