Children’s Alter Ego

Kids love to pretend to be someone else. From a simple youngster, they imagine themselves being a princess, a queen or a damsel in distress. Whenever someone asks for a still shot, another would pose like a model, or a fairy. Some would go a bit sporty by wearing riding boots and imagines riding their horsey.

Parents love it when they see their children on costumes. There are those who hire professional photographers just to capture the perfect picture. Some go to studios with complete set-ups with colorful backgrounds, make-ups, and costumes. A playful scene worth remembering.

Of Portraits and Candid Shots

There are two categories in shooting people, portrait and candid. Portrait seems a lot serious because subject/s can be a family, or with all of their clan. It has to be shot with a story and great depth to signify the power and legacy of the family. Even on individual portrait shots, everything should be put into place, each element perfect.

On the other hand, candid shooting is very interesting. You can take photos of people whenever and however you want- just walking around, sitting in a bench, or a mother and daughter in a bus. For some, they enjoy taking unique stolen shots like, a bald person waiting in a bus stop with a huge billboard of hair loss products, or a plump saleslady selling weight loss products.

Between zits and celebs

When young celebrities land on their first movie, they are expected to have lots of TV appearances, product endorsements, and photo shoots. They take the opportunity to introduce themselves to the industry. Different photographers and other members of the media pile up to get a shot on the young superstar.

Since these icons are in their teens, it is most likely that unwanted skin blemishes surface. This can be very annoying especially if there is a scheduled photo shoot the next day. With some acne treatments and magic touch from their makeup artists, they are ready for that magical pose and stolen shots.

Photoshoot illusions

In fashion photo shoots, some models that just had a baby were asked to pose for a shot to show the world how they look after giving birth. There are times that they are required to be dressed in sexy and fitted outfits. In cases like these, they choose to use body stockings underneath to hide their belly fat. The garment is so body-hugging that it naturally flows with the skin.

For lingerie or glamour photo sessions, the new mommy models are dressed in fishnet bodystockings. The net creates the illusion to the body that gives a sexy effect. Shooting on the right angles, models will look like they never gave birth.

Child Photography

There is more to child photography than just the lighting and the backgrounds. The opportunity for good photographs is to be able to embrace the whole psychological aspect of child photography. While I may not well be an expert in portraiture or child photography, I have learned one or two things with my interest of taking good shots of my son.

For some reason, I take better shots of my son than my husband could ever take pictures of him with me. The task fo the photographer is not limited to hitting that shutter button. But to engage the child long enough to hold a certain position or an authentic expression is a skill. I’d have to say that looking for auto insurance quotes is way easier than learning the ropes of child photography. But it can be one of the most fulfilling things that you could learn in photography.

First shots using the 35mm f/1.8G DX prime lens

Here are a couple of shots taken using our brand new 35mm f/1.8G DX prime lens. As you might have noticed, excitement can overcome me whenever I get a new toy that my tendency is to just snap away. Not thinking much of how I should compose it. But to begin with a real photographer hardly have to think of composition. It will be innate in him. I still have a long way to go.

Another shot with my high school bff. We might have failed to wear even discount bridesmaid dresses at the same time, but we sure take time to catch up even in our crazy busy schedules.

Here is hoping that I get to maximize this prime lens’s potential.

Oxytoxin detox

The words oxycontin detox are not exactly the words that I would expect to come up when I search for portraiture photography forums over the internet. But interestingly one by such name came up on Flickr with very interesting shots.

Now I may not know anything about what oxytoxin is, but it sure made me contact again the gadget seller I bought my Canon S90 from. I will soon be purchasing a 35mm prime lens f/1.8G DX.

Hoping to learn Portraiture and Food Photography

Portraiture and Food Photography are two of my main hope to learn this 2011. But before anything else, I am in dire need to hone my basic photography know hows. I am giving myself this month to run through the videos I took of my Basic Digital Photography class with Sir James Nicolay. It was in 2009 that I took the class and after almost 2 years, I still have not gone through the videos.

I love taking portraiture because I love to capture the expression of people around me. Food photography for the obvious reason that my family and I love to eat. It is too obvious, in fact that we now need to know how to reduce belly fat. It will be also sweet if our love for food will manifest through great photographs.

A shot taken by dear husband (please don’t mind my dark circles ). Our five year old son is such a joy to be around. There is never a dull moment when we are together. Even in the middle of the night and he would half wake to go to the washroom and pee and we’d throw a joke at him, he’d still smile with his half half closed. This is the way my boys pass time. Our son is the sweetest! He does this all the time. We are sucking it all up, while he is still at it. I know boys have the tendency to clam up as they grow older.

This is an unprocessed shot via my Canon S90. I took this when we were about to have lunch, late lunch to be exact. Blame it on the store we were last in, they ran out of 108r00727 to get our receipt printed.
